I recently bought an advertised expandable dual cordless handset phone system thinking I can buy the 3rd handset and add it on. As it turned out, the advertisement was wrong. It’s not expandable at all. If I buy the same model that features only 1 handset instead of two, can I somehow fool or hack my dual handset system into accepting this third handset? I realized I can return it and buy another model that is indeed expandable with 3 handsets but this model that I have is really cool looking. The model I have is a vtech 6042. In the internet somewhere, there is a 6053 model with features a 3 handset system and same style but the vtech website doesn’t list it and customer service says that phone is not available yet.
