I hate these discussion. Same line as people wanting to make it illegal to use phones when crossing streets because a single person accidently fell into a fountain.There are so much radio waves in the air that it realy doesn’t matter and just because somemone has got cancer next to his/her ear doesn’t mean its cell phone related. Also i read in a study that the amount of radiation that comes off cells phones is less than background radiation so there really shouldn’t be any scare of getting cancer from your phone. Background radiation for you non-geeky types is radiation that comes off everyday things like electric wires, the TV, microwaves…. and the sun. To be on the safe side just use your speakerphone feature more often. I also leave my phone off while in my pocket and check my voicemail from time to time.
I refuse to own a cell phone because of cancer. Many retired police officers acquired prostate cancer from having radar guns in their laps. The industry will insist that they are safe, because they want your money. YOU MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE!!! Maybe this is Gods way of ending civilization????

I never knew brain cancer was such a funny topic. Oh ho-ho, my child has brain cancer, yes how amusing. To answer the ‘dont know’ question, the manufactured controversy is about whether or not non-thermal (not heating) amounts of microwave radiation can harm living tissue. Like tobacco, money and power of the telcos can go a long way to covering up key data amongst a heap of negative studies.
@derfy26 The phone intermittently gives off strong radiation to communicate its position / status to the cell phone towers. If you receive anything else onto your phone, be it a SMS or internet, mail, etc., then you will be getting exposed to the radiation. The radiation from such things can be the same or worse than conversations. If you have a glitch in your software config, virus etc. on a smartphone then the phone can be constantly talking to the tower, and radiating you.

What about when the cell phone is idle, and you’re not receiving a call? For example if it’s in your pocket. Is there still radiation there? Is it much less radiation or the same amount?
